Do you need to determine the level of certain substances in a large container or even in a natural occurrence like a river or a lake? Level sensors can assist in detecting the volume of any substance which flows. This can include anything from liquids, to powders and granular materials.
The properties of liquids or solids which have been liquidised govern that, because of gravity, these substances will become level in their physical boundaries, whether it be in a container or a natural restriction such as a river bank, due to their natural flow. This is contradictory to solid substances which will ultimately pile to a peak.
Considering that these substances reach equilibrium as a result of their liquidised flow, it is possible to measure the substance using level sensors. This means that the liquid substance can be measured inside the container or lake, for example, with the measurement being provided either in a point value or continuous form.
With regards to continuous level sensors, the level is always measured within a contained area, or within a specific range to determine the exact amount of the respective substance within the predetermined area. On the other hand, point-level sensors will only be able to provide clarity on the substance level in respect to the sensing point. This sensor is traditionally used for determining if levels are above or below the norm.
